Tokyo Slo-Mo [Alex Lee] (2011)

A very nicely executed city study of Tokyo made by a local. The stark contrast between the fast paced city and the slow motion effects coupled with the colors make for a nice little piece of video. The Flying Lotus tune doesn’t spoil either.

Tiji - Colour. [Akama] (2011)

A sweet story of colors, the lack of colors, and a panda.

Massive Attack - Splitting the atom [Edouard Salier](2010)

Welcome to the world of Massive Attack.

Hifana - Nike Music Shoe [Wieden+Kennedy JPN](2010)

a) I wish I was japanese so I could be cool.

b) I wish I was Hifana so I could be both awesome and cool.

Making of is great as well.

Prodigy - Out of Space (1992)

Ravevideos were a random hodgepodge of everything people could think of to throw into the mix, and in a couple them it worked. In Prodigy’s Out of Space the sheer fun of it all, topped with some truly epic ostrich footage and some bodacious Melbourne shuffling from Maxim Reality, put it a notch above the rest.

Amon Tobin - Esther’s [dir. Charles De Meyer (aka Chuck Eklectric)] (2009)

Reminiscent of both Chemical Brothers’ “Believe” and Amon Tobins own “Four Ton Mantis” this is a brilliantly animated narrative video which finely blends CG and and live production. The video would be genius if the payoff was better, but the overall quality makes it todays video.

Flying Lotus - Kill your co-workers [dir. Beeple] (2010)

“FUN IS SWEET.”

Internet rhetoric and randomness prevails, this video by Beeple is deliciously rendered in cell-shaded Legolike wireframe insanityvision of murderous killbots and overly happy technocolour citizens.

The Notwist - Pick up the phone (2002)

An all time favorite of mine. The story of a pair of stuffed animals’ that have had a falling out, there’s just something most people can connect to in that bears’ battle with himself. And the music ain’t half bad either.

Bottle [Kirsten Lepore] (2010)

I. LOVE. Stopmotion. The sheer work and attention to detail in this sweet and short little movie is extra-ordinary, and it’s funny to boot. 5 minutes of ossomness that you won’t want to miss.

Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Love Missile F1-11 (1986).

“Hi-tech sex, designer violence, and the fifth generation of rock ‘n’ roll” were the key elements in Sigue Sigue Sputnik’s musical message. A clash-up of Terminator, Mad Max and Blade Runner with a sprinkle of japanese counter-culture, this is what all the partymonsterkids want to be like.
